After announcing her shock decision to retire at the end of the season, Jillaroos star Millie Elliott is aiming to bow out as a premiership and World Cup winner.

Elliott stunned the rugby league world by joining Sydney Roosters team-mate Corban Baxter at a presss conference to announce their retirement but she has unfinished business.

The 28 year-old has won four NRLW premierships with the Broncos, Knights and Roosters, as well as a State of Origin series win, but she is yet to play in a Rugby League World Cup.

“If I were given the opportunity, I would love to finish my career playing in the World Cup,” Elliot said. “It would be a great honour to represent Australia.”

Elliott and former Knights team-mate Tamika Upton were selected in the Jillaroos squad for the last World Cup in 2022 but withdrew due to work commitments.

The South Coast product has played eight Tests for Australia, with her last appearance being 18 months ago in Las Vegas as a member of the Jillaroos side that inflicted a 90-4 defeat of England.

She missed the 2025 NRLW season while pregnant with daughter Gigi and returned in this year's State of Origin series to help NSW to an historic 3-0 cleansweep.

After helping the Roosters to the minor premiership, Elliott is eyeing a fifth grand final win and selection in Australia's World Cup squad.

"I haven't played in a World Cup before and to have it on home soil in Australia where rugby league is thriving would be special," Elliott told NRL.com.

The Jillaroos open their World Cup campaign against Fetu Samoa at CommBank Stadium on October 16 before travelling to Perth to meet England on October 24 at HBF Park.

On both occasions, the Jillaroos will be broadcast in prime-time on Seven.

"It is incredible to see how much not the fans and the broadcasters have really got behind it," Elliott said.

"To have women's rugby league and the Jillaroos on in prime time will open up our game to more people.

"More girls will want to play after they've seen it on the TV so to have that support to really put the game forward will be great to be a part of and it can only be good for the future of women's rugby league."

If selected for Australia, Elliot will line up with some of her Roosters teammates one last time, with centres Jessica Sergis and Isabelle Kelly, halves Tarryn Aiken and Jocelyn Kelleher, lock Olivia Kernick and hooker Keeley Nizza all likely to be in the Jillaroos squad.

Elliot’s decision to retire from professional rugby league was driven by her desire to focus on family and to commit to the next chapter of her life.

“I don’t want to half-arse anything," she said. “I want to be all in on being a mother.

“Having my daughter Gigi and bringing her along for the ride this year has been very special, but it's time to move on to the next chapter of my career and life.”

As the Roosters look to regain the NRLW premiership trophy after losing to the Broncos in the 2025 Grand Final, Elliott is focused on finishing her career on a high.

“I will reflect on and understand how incredible this time was later, but for now I’m very locked in for the season and the 2026 campaign," she said.

For Elliot, winning a fifth premiership and then a Rugby League World Cup in green and gold would be a fairy-tale ending and a fitting finale for one of NRLW’s inaugural stars.
